About

My life, since I was twelve years old has been committed to knowing and serving my creator, my God, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ my savior. That does not mean that I’ve been perfect, on the contrary, I’ve made plenty mistakes in my forty plus years of life. Non-the-less, my goal has always been, and will continue to be, to try and serve, honor, and love my God by the way I live my life. That includes trying to love the people around me, including the people who don’t love me, with all my heart, while trying to treat them the way that I want to be treated. Building relationships with my God, my family, and with others, that is based in the love that Jesus displayed on the cross for all of us.

A majority of my time has also been lived in the pursuit of, and an effort to sustain a career playing the sport of football for a living. I was fortunate to achieve the dream I had as a young boy, to play football at Louisiana State University, just like my father had done when he was a part of their first National Championship team in 1958. When I was done playing at LSU, I was even more fortunate to make it in the NFL for another thirteen years playing with the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns/Baltimore Ravens, and Carolina Panthers. When I was released in January of 2001, I began the process of trying to figure out the next phase of my life, a life that had always been focused on one thing, playing football.

After continuing to try and prolong my playing career for two years and three unsuccessful tryouts, officially retiring in the spring of 2003. I was fortunate to return to the NFL in 2003 and have used the story of that event to produce a book called “The Long Snapper”. The book has given me an avenue to travel and share the message of the book with thousands of people around the country. My life has now transitioned from a life that was success oriented, to a life that’s focused on having significance, finding ways to impact the lives around me in a positive way, and sharing the gospel of Christ to everyone around me. I’m currently the head football coach at Ascension Christian High School in Gonzales, Louisiana.
